Getting started

Installation

FluentOverlay runs on Windows 10 (1903+) or Windows 11, currently targeting x64 public builds. .NET 8 is bundled with the app — you do not install a separate runtime.

• Microsoft Store — use the Store link on the FluentOverlay page when publishing is live.
• Direct MSI — same page provides a direct installer when available.

First launch

After setup, FluentOverlay lives in the system tray. There is no main window cluttering the taskbar. Right-click the tray icon to open Settings when you want to change theme, columns, triggers, or behaviour toggles.

Default activation is a double-tap of Ctrl (timing and key are configurable in Settings).

Using the overlay

1. Focus any supported application.
2. Double-tap your trigger — the overlay opens above the active window.
3. Browse grouped shortcuts (often mirroring app menus) or type to search with fuzzy and synonym matching.
4. Dismiss by double-tapping the trigger again, pressing Esc, or clicking outside.

Pro adds click-to-execute: pick an entry and FluentOverlay sends the keystroke sequence for you. Free tier shows the keys so you can type them manually.
